Haters Gonna Hate

This is going to be short and sweet, but y'all know I'm always on the lookout for any Michelle Obama-related foolishness (and believe me, there's no shortage of it).  But if there's one thing I've learned from the mainstream media/Hollywood in particular and most fandoms specifically, it's that there's something about black women that just gets under some people's skin.  Something intangible and visceral that just makes them act out and say and do the most irrational, ridiculous things.

Case in point, a woman from a Romney speech that he gave to the American Legion back in August just doesn't think Michelle Obama looks or acts or looks like a First Lady:
“I just don’t like him. Can’t stand to look at him. I don’t like his wife — she’s far from the First Lady. It’s about time we get a First Lady in there who acts like a First Lady and looks like a First Lady.” (source:  Wonkette)
You can also hear the audio over at Wonkette, but really...do you want to subject yourself to that?  We all know what that dog was whistling about:  Michelle Obama doesn't look like a traditional First Lady (read: white), so by default, Ann Romney--with her blond hair and pale skin--fits the bill perfectly.  It doesn't matter that she doesn't seem like a very nice person, she's not black so that's all that matters.   (And you didn't miss what she said about the president, did you?  I'm sure if you asked her, this woman would swear she isn't racist, and then call you racist for daring to point out her racism.)

The same people that have a problem with this...

Michelle Obama and Taylor Swift at
Kids Choice Awards 2012
...or this...

First Lady and President Obama
State Dinner 2009
...have absolutely no problem with this:

Ann Romney on Jay Leno 9/26/12

I'm just going to leave it there.

  1. “I just don’t like him. Can’t stand to look at him. I don’t like his wife — she’s far from the First Lady...."

First, let's deal with that statement. Since when do we elect officials simply because we like them? There are a lot of folks I like, but I wouldn't want them running this country.

"Can't stand to look at him", huh? Don't like how his wife "looks", huh?

    What the fuck ever.

  2. Well, in all fairness, she is awfully fly and sexy, and we certainly haven't had a First Lady who looks like THAT.

Why did Anne Romney go to see Jay Leno dressed like a dominatrix?

    1. Man, I was just wondering if Romney sent her out to earn their mortgage payment. O_O

    2. yeah Mrs. Obama is way more fit/attractive/stylish/ wrinkle free than the USA has seen in a first lady in 40 years.

  3. Nicthommi, you've offended the dominatrix population. They dress way better than that hoe du jour. That heffa looks like she sportin' a bunch of dirty old Glad trash bags.

  4. Ohhhhhh.......I just couldn't wait untilsomeone mentioned this.I definitely wanted to talk about Ann Romney.I seen a little of this.I wasn't sure if I should laugh or turn off my TV to prevent me from getting sick.OMG!!!! whose idea was this to shame herself like that?It reminds of a segment of The George Lopez show where his mom pretends to get breast implants and everybody talks about how ridiculous she looked in them.Hate to say it,but Ann looks RIDICULOUS in that get up.Really...she did. You could all of that age around her neck and arms.age spots and dried up skin. Both of my grandmothers were/are older than she is was and didn't have around their necks and they are/were in their age.Tina Turner is almost 70 and looks far younger than Ann. They should have kept her backstage.

No doubt that racism plays a role in th.Its sad that people cannot accept reality and for and/or embrace people's differences. It's also sad to be subjected to Ann dressing. Whose idea was this? I wouldn't doubt ifit was Mittens idea.He probably wished that his wife was this beautiful, youthful and spirited like Michelle.

  5. e probably wished that his wife was this beautiful, youthful and spirited like Michelle.

Fuck that. He wishes she was Michelle.
