  1. First, the Good.

    Meagan's got a show!!! Meagan's got a show!!! It's about damn time!

    Now....

Not caring for the plot because Meagan's got a show!!!!!

Now caring for the BWWM; recently watched Video Girl and started wondering why Meagan's appearing opposite all these white dudes (when she's SUPPOSED to finish that project with Pete Jae). Zoe Saldana's already the big BWWM girl, and it's getting old.

$10 says this show doesn't last through the first season.

  2. I saw the trailer for this but it hasn't got me interested in it. Glad Megan got a show, but I'm with you Ank I don't see it lasting unless Shonda Rhimes is writing part-time for the show.

    1. Agreed.Shonda would tell them how creating a hit series is really done.

  3. Laz Alonso plays Joanna's ex-boyfriend, so it's just not a focus on BW/WM.

However, *all* black actresses playing lead or major supporting roles in "mainstream" films and television shows have had white love interests. Kerry Washington is a good example of a black actress who has a lot of white male actors as love interests.

    1. Yeah BW/WM is kind of a requirement for a Black women to be a lead in a series. I think it's their why of playing down her blackness.

Or fantasy fufilling by fanboys in positions of power (writers, showrunners, TV execs, etc).

    3. Good observation.I agree with the thoughts of many black people who have seen a sudden upsurge in WM/BW couples. I agree ,the rise of them just isnt on TV just for ratings. Its funny how poor Laz has to settle for being the ex of Megan, which is something that I also see with these pictures. Im in compliance that it is an inner desire the execs express in this manner.Oh well,so much for Black women being undesirable..

    4. On Talking Dead, an exec producer (or someone to that degree) was talking about Michonne's character and basically admitted it. He said something to the effect of as a fan of comics it's exciting to see a "hot black chick" with a katana kicking ass. All this we're seeing now? Total fantasy fulfilling. There's entirely too much of it nowadays to be happening in a vacuum. The big difference between now and back in the day is that times have changed and instead of the dribs and drabs we used to get, it's now no holds barred (mostly).

And of course on the heels of it, we get all the hate that seems to go along with it. You cast these beautiful black women opposite these good-looking white male leads, and all hell breaks loose in the fandoms (Merlin, Person of Interest, True Blood, Gray's Anatomy, and on and on). Once the fangirls get a look at Meagan's love interest, I'll be curious to see how long it takes before they start going after her.

    5. Agreed!

Hee-Hee!Slowly,but surely the truth is coming out. If the exec producer wasn't serious about Michonne's character, wouldn't have said what he said.

I just cannot see all of these shows are having these WM/BW couples on it for nothing. You do have to have some degree on inner fantasy there. Otherwise, the characters will be destined not to last. They may not want to admit it,but people are nobody's fool. If that wasn't the case, we'll be seeing more Black-on-Black romance or Non Black men/BW in them.

Yep! I can see those evil fans doing the Taranji P Nelson number on Megan especially the bed scene, you know that they is going to make them incredibly sick. They can fault Megan fault those Top Dogs behind the screen who want to be with beautiful Black woman like her.

  4. Looks like an interesting concept, and I really like Meagan Goode. Plus, I want to support a black female lead, so I'll be watching. Good for her.
