Black Girls' Night Out: Michonne

Just wanted you guys to know that this is still an ongoing segment in the BGNO series, but alas I have nothing to report because  Michonne has had about 2.35 minutes of screen time over the course of the last two episodes...and she hasn't said a word.  I'm beyond annoyed about this.  I'm not surprised, but I am annoyed.

The actress, Danai Gurira, has said that Michonne's time is coming; that soon, we'll learn all about her and she will speak more and yada yada yada.  That was sometime last year, October, I think...and here it is February and she's gotten even less screen time.  The 'heads know that Michonne is a badass essential in the comics, but that shit for damn sure ain't translating to the small screen.  As far as I'm concerned, she's officially there to satisfy the 'heads...and nothing else.  Hell, Hershel's useless daughter has more screen time and lines than Michonne.  So if things change and I have something to report, then you'll see a BGNO Michonne post.  Otherwise, I'm not going to bother with weekly updates.

  1. I hear ya. Even Tyreese and Sasha had more lines. I mean, that's good but it's still bad for Michonne.

    Spoilers!

By the way; in this past episode I know Rick wasn't to keen on Tyreese and his group to stay at the prison and told them they had to go while looking crazy at Laurie's ghost, but they headed out quick.

I'm like they gone already? I thought they would still be around when the Governor attacked the prison.

    1. I was thinking the same thing. I'm like...are they hiding out in another part of the prison to conveniently show up? Or are they gone gone?

      If they're gone gone, then...

    1. I'll have a double shot of Hennessy in some sweet tea. Then a Mojito.

I was worried this would happen. Take the soul out of Michonne.

Sidenote: I have a feel Glenn's time is running short.

    2. Depends on if they stick with the comic or not.

  4. Yeah. Glen's the Asian guy...and IDK what's going on right now, but I'm not feeling real positive with his characterization as of late. We'll see how it plays out.

    1. I just keep thinking "They're only gonna let this dude be epic for so long."

    2. I don't watch the show, but after the first couple of eps he struck as having his days numbered for a while.

    3. He matured, toughened up and turned into a bit of a badass. But now he feels inadequate because he wasn't able to protect his girlfriend or himself, and he's looking for a fight, for vengeance.

When the fight came--right up to the front door nonetheless--he wasn't there. So methinks he will be looking even saltier and giving more people the stank eye next week. Like Miss Erica H said, they'll only allow Glen's epicness to last but so long. They may not kill him (yet), but they will find a way to neuter him.

      Claude, I hope I'm wrong.

  5. I watched the first season, and I do not watch much TV, to see the storyline between the black characters. They killed off the woman ( she opted to blow herself up at the CDC ) and the black guy, T-Dog, barely spoke and died saving whitey.

    yawn.
