Black Girls' Night Out: Olivia Pope, an open thread

I'm gonna cheat and just make this one an open thread.  I've tried to make myself watch this show and it is NOT happening.  As we speak, I'm terminating my Hulu Plus subscription.

For those of you who've been watching the show, what did you think about the last two episodes of Season 3?  And what are your thoughts on what's happened to the show overall?

  1. Olivia Pope has gone the way of Bonnie Bennett, Tara Thornton, Gwen Pendragon and Lacey Porter. Constantly sacrificing herself for privileged white people, and getting the short end of the stick by writers, fans and the media.

Fans who constantly bring up Mellie's pain but when faced with Olivias pain are constantly silent. White reviewers since the end S2 calling for Mellie to be the star of the show and praising Bellamy Young ( when before this nobody cared about her) and generally not giving praise to anyone but Cyrus, James, Jake and Mellie.

I need people to start calling out Shonda for this fuck shit and stop calling her a Genius. The story lines this season were recycled from Alias and previous seasons. B6-13 is a S*** pile that needs to die in a fire and Rowan with his bad parenting and misogyny needs to burn with it.

Olivia leaving was the only good thing about the finale however that was tarnished by the fact that she left with the man who a few days before choked her. Why are transgressions, violent or otherwise against Olivia never acknowledged?

I don't know if I'm going to be back next season but something has to change quick.

    1. I love Bellamy's acting ,but if Kerry Washington was taken from Scandal, the show would be nothing. The day that Kerry bids that show good-bye, you'll see how much Bellamy will hold up the show.

I agree with you about the B-613 part . Instead of helping making people like us more interested in learning about, it's just putting me to sleep. It's getting to be tiring . I think the only parts of the finale I did like was when Huck got a sneak peak of his wife and kid and Harrison and Livi's dad interacting with each other. Otherwise the show was so-so.

  2. Looks as if Shonda did get rid of a problem and it isn't B613 (Source: The Grio)

  3. So on the one hand, no more wasting Harrison. On the other hand....

Why do Negroes keep getting fired from Shonda's shows?

    1. Tumblr knows all, people have been calling this since end of S2, when he was missing all the promo events and his role kept getting smaller.

      Because they keep screwing up.

  4. I finally watched the last two episodes and had to roll my eyes.

Fitz finds out Mellie was raped, which was what ruined their marriage, then his son's murdered, and yet all he can still think about is Liv? And his wife dials the phone for him?????

After having James's head blown off, Cyrus hasn't learned anything? He sits back knowing a church full of people is about to be blowing and says nothing because he wants Sally out of the running? Seriously?

After sparse viewings of Khandi Alexander, she's back in the hole? Adnan Salif was talked up every whichaway and she's dead?

Huck and Quinn are screwing beside a puddle of Daddy Pope's blood? And the blood is the least disgusting part of the scene????

Huck and his supremely damaged toxic self goes to talk to his family and say...what? You're about to bring all your nasty drama around your innocent ex-wife and child...for what, exactly?

Season 4 is going to suck and I will not be there to watch it implode. Someone else is going to have to do BGNO for this bullshit. Shonda Rhimes made a bad call and I'm a deeply disappointed with how things have gone.

    1. When some recaps/highlights a season finale and the LEAD is only mentioned once(not even her own plot or feelings), you have a problem.

  7. What does it say when the third season is already streaming on Netflix and I have to be beyond bored to watch it?

  8. By the way, I'm onto Shonda Rhimes. Watching the earlier eps from this season opened my eyes to a few things...like the deliberate tanking of Olivia's business so that she'd HAVE to go work for the White House.

    ...Boo.

Scandal writing has selective memory, because didn't Olivia have a blackmail fail that she gave Harrison in S2? I always thought that plotline was bull, Olivia Pope knows every body's dirty laundry and they let her hang??

Remember S1 when she blackmailed all those men for her madam client, so she can do it for rich white people but not her self. Ok then .

      Good point!

What do you think is going to happen in Season 4? Like...we already know Harrison's fate. What do you think about everybody else?

    4. I have no hope for season 4. I had hope for season 3, and Shonda let me down. Shonda keeps showing her ass on twitter and that for me, is telling.

Right now, the main problem for me is Shonda doesn't seem to have any sympathy for her main character. In regards to Mellie and Quinn she talks about how she feels sympathy for them being abused, she talked about how Quinn being tortured by a male POC was something she wasn't sure about. And yet Olivia nothing! Olivia constantly gets called a whore and people put their hands on her mainly Joke Ballard and she has the worst parents! And for all the diversity promotion Scandal has gotten which characters have gotten the worst treatment( Hint, no one from the whitehouse).

From my previous posts you know I'm an OLitz shipper and I will go down with my ship, but that is another post.

S1 & S2 weren't perfect but they were better than the trash of S3.

I predict in S4 it will be more trash, Mellie will continue to get loads of air time even though she is useless. More meaning less monologues that people will love but nothing will change.
More B613 fuckshit and Joke Ballard will continue to grace my screen, because Shonda loves her pets Mellie the maid and Joke Ballard.

Damn I have alot of feelings

    1. Don't get me started on Season 4.

Rhimes was looking to add a black male lawyer to the cast, aged 30s to 50s. She said if she couldn't find an actor, she'd have to write out that character altogether.

Write out that character? Did Leonard Roberts, Roger G. Smith, Coby Bell, TC Carson, or Sinqua Walls just not want a paycheck?

    2. I especially would have loved to see TC Carson in Scandal. Oh my...I just love the way he talks!
On the serious tip, he can play a great lawyer or anything in the corporate world.. He just got that versatility about him where he would be great in it. He may have played in mostly comedies, but it seems that when actors go from comedy to serious and vice versa..most seem to do a great job with it. I also would like Wayne Brady to be in it. I really didn't how serious he could get with being serious, but he can . He's really great ..though I still miss Columbus.

Why do I smell an excuse with Shondra's reasoning? there are just too many talented Black male actors who could be lawyers on that show I started to lose some interest with Scandal with her Shonda's seemingly predominate focus on B-613. If the show will only focus on Abby, I'm going to sleep.
