Taking the Throne: Bonnie Bennett on #TVD (#Bamon)

From a show filled with so much wrong, something right seems to have happened...no thanks to the writers, of course.

Nina Dobrev is leaving The Vampire Diaries after playing the central character Elena for six seasons.  However, the show's been renewed for a seventh season, thus begging the question: who gets to be Queen of Mystic Falls now?

While I love Candice Accola as the vampire Caroline (I really do), I want to see the beautiful Katerina "Kat" Graham step up and take the reigns.  Bonnie Bennett is one of the original Inductees into the Black Girls Club for her mistreatment on TVD, so after six years of being neglected and disrespected, the bill is due.  And since Brown is supposedly the New White on TV, this show - with its severely depleted fanbase - just might be able to save itself by putting Graham in the lead.

Then, of course, there's also the issue of #Bamon.

Actor Ian Somerhalder recently stated in an interview that Bamon (Bonnie and his character, the vampire Damon Salvatore) wasn't going to happen because "the powers that be [don't] want there to be much of a Damon and Bonnie storyline, or chemistry, because then it takes away from what I guess is supposed to be, or what people think is supposed to be, which is this whole Damon and Elena thing."

Until now.

Now that Dobrev is leaving the show, the possibilities abound.  In recent months, fans have been going crazy at the prospect of Bonnie and Damon getting together.  Initially, I found that bizarre since Damon turned Bonnie's mom into a vampire.  That being said, the two characters supposedly went on to develop a deeper friendship, mainly due to a shared struggle, and the two actors happen to work with the same coach, so they've apparently displayed this electrifying chemistry that has fangirls instagasming all over the web.  Since I refuse to watch TVD until Elena's gone and Bonnie's made lead, I'll just have to take their word for it.

What are your thoughts, ladies?

  1. I feel they're more likely to make Caroline the female lead than Bonnie. However, if they finally attempted to give Bonnie her proper shine on the show I might be willing to tune in for season 7. Of course I won't congratulate the writers for finally doing right by her character. I just hope to be somewhat pleasantly surprised.

    1. I'm going to sit back and wait to see what Bonnie fans say. If they're happy with it, I might check it out.

Let us know what you think ASAP, okay?

  2. As long as this show has been on air, I've never bothered to watch TVD thought Ian is hot..lol! because primarily, I could never get in to lot of CW pictures for some reason and the way that you describe the series made me want to watch it even less.

Far as a possible #BAMON? I can't say much, but it seems that some of TVD fans want it to happen. Katherine is such a pretty woman and Ian is a good looking guy..which doesn't mean anything, but they would be such a good looking couple.

    1. What had me laughing out loud are the Bamon fans. Their comments are hilarious. Since most of the Bonnie fans who actually still watch the show are white, some of them seem to have gotten in touch with their inner Negress. At the news of Dobrev leaving the show, one girl was like, "Praise be...we been waitin' six years...."

  3. Your review of this show on At The Bar sealed it for me. Never watched, never will.

    1. Girl, my own reviews pretty much killed my desire to ever touch the show again, but if Bonnie fans are happy come Season 7, I may have to pay more attention.

Truth be told, I was expecting this ish to get canceled soon. LOL...Elena leaving is actually better.
