Theater Sisters: Joaquina Kalukango

When was the last time you went to the theatre? Not AMC, but the theatre (in my uppity British voice). Well, as a former stage actor, I love the theatre and I was a regular patron for many years when I lived in Atlanta. I went to a famous performing arts high school where a lot of talent was cultivated, born, and is now kicking ass in entertainment. One of those talents is now starring alongside Jennifer Hudson and Danielle Brooks in Brodaway's The Color Purple as Nettie. Her name is Joaquina Kalukango. I KNOW HER!! I think I met her for the first time when I was a kid. She was a baby. Her parents were friends of my parents. They lost touch over the years and then I met her again when I was a junior and she was a freshman. It was known then that she would be a force in the theatre world.

Joaquina always showed great talent and and was a natural on the stage. She definitely owns her own  She was absolutely destined for Broadway and I'm sure she is headed for more greatness in the future...so remember her name ladies and let's celebrate our sisters in the theatre.
